offering a discount by a code

Hi there,
this is probably simple but I would really appreciate some help!
I want to offer a discount to customers who are given a code that would be entered in at check out. e.g. 10% off orders, enter code "simple" at check out.

You might look into the Discount Coupons in the:
Gift Certificate/Coupons ... Coupon Admin

You can then configure Discount Coupons for whatever amount you like ...

I cannot find the Gift Certificates/Coupons. I have GV Coupons but that doesn't give me a Coupon Admin.
What am I missing here

Peek in the Admin for your shop ...

In the menubar next to the Tools ... you will have a menu title for:
Gift Certificate/Coupons

Providing you have in the menubar title the Modules ... Order Total ... and have installed the Discount Coupons ot_coupon you will see the menu choice for creating Discount Coupons under the Gift Certificate/Coupons menubar for Coupon Admin ...

Tools is the last option on my menu bar. I have installed Discount Coupons ot_coupon but I don't have the menubar option Gift Certificates/Coupons.

Sounds like a bad install of the files for the /admin via FTP ...

Reload your files for the /admin for all directories and subdirectories and that should update the missing, corrupt or otherwise bad files ...
