Default htaccess file missing in admin

Today I went to add some products to my store and all of a sudden received a 403 error when trying to change an attribue option to cost $5.00. Then when I went to add some html code in the description, I got a 500 error. I could update the product description all I wanted as long as it didn't have any html code in it. This has never happened before.

I came here and found this thread:

    403 Forbidden error

I was thrilled to find it so fast as this person seemed to be having the exact same problem as me. So I went to my admin file to find no .htaccess file whatsoever in there. Figured, aha, now I know why I have been having problems.

So I uploaded the .htaccess file but it isn't showing in my file list for admin and I continue to get the 403 and 500 errors. Why is the .htacces file not showing on my file list after I upload it? It says it has uploaded successfully?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Some FTP programs are configured by default to hide "hidden" files. Files starting with a dot (.) are considered "hidden" on linux servers. As such, you're not seeing it in your FTP file listing.
