Default "Shop by ..." or Multiple Category Sets

First, a quick thanks to the Zen team for a nice piece of software (been using osCommerce, Zen appears similar where it makes sense, but much better where needed).

I've been looking around for a way to build a store that includes multiple "shop by ..." navigation options, rather than the usual single set of categories, for example:

    Shop by Occasion
    Occasion 1
    Occasion 2
    ...

    Shop by Price
    Price range 1
    Price range 2
    ...

And so on. Am I missing any obvious tools in the admin area to do this, or is there a module that can help me out?

    Thanks!

Idea or Suggestion Re: "Shop by ..." or Multiple Category Sets

Perhaps this is the way to do it: Create two levels of categories, where the top level categories are "Shop by Occasion", "Shop by Price", etc., and where the occasions and prices are simply categories under the corresponding top-level. Products are placed under this 2nd level, and copied into the right places. Then, the categories are displayed expanded to two levels on the home page.

Am I on the right track, or is there a smarter way to do this?

Thanks for any wise words :-)

You have the ability with Zen Cart to make as many categories as you need and the products can be linked from one category to as many others as are appropriate.

    Example:

    Shoes
    -3" heels
    -Flats

    Purses
    -Formal
    -Casual

    Everything
    -1.99 to 3.99
    -3.99 to 10.99

So a pair of shoes that is a Flat and 2.99 a pair would be in Shoes>Flats and in Everything>1.99 to 3.99

Specific instructions for doing linked products is available in the FAQs and the e-Start Your Zen Cart Store book.
