cannot upgrade database ! asking for password!

I just installed a clean copy of 1.3.7 in a new folder on the server.

I then went into my sql and dropped the tables and then imported a backup from my old database (version 1.2.6d cart)

Then I went back to the installer to try and upgrade the database but now it is asking for the admin username and password and it will not take anything I put in. I tried the new admin login and that won't work, then tried the login to the old cart and that won't work.

I tried going to the admin area to see if I could login and it will not. Then I tried to get it to resend the password to me and it will not recognise any email address I try !

So I am totally stuck !

Well, somehow I got around the password issue by backing up in the installer then going through it again but now it has wiped out all my product data, so I am back where I started.

How do I get the data from my old (1.2.6d cart) database safely into the new one??

If the db has been created for 1.3.7, you should be able to import the old db into it from the webmaster panel.

Hmmm, it's not that simple. We are talking about a new 1.3.7 database and a 1.2.6d database. I already know hat if I simply restore a backup into the new one the cart will not run because too many things have changed.

I just now tried importing a backup made without saving the structure but that didn't work (still no product data).

I was able to back up a 1.2.7 db and import it into a clean 1.3.7 db.
