Keeping on SOLD OUT and Image Pictures

I have searched about 6 pages of information on this forum but can not find my answer.

It seems many want the opposite of what I want.

I need to know where to go in the backend to establish the following when a customer purchases the last of an item:

1. The item's picture still is displayed on my site (so other customers will see what they missed).
2. The SOLD OUT image is displayed.
3. This SOLD OUT item can not be added to the shopping cart.

Here are my settings:

ADMIN->CONFIGURATION->STOCK
Title Value
Check stock level true
Subtract stock true
Allow Checkout true
Mark product out of stock ***
Stock Re-order level 5
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 1
Show Sold Out Image in place of Add to Cart 1
Product Quantity Decimals 0
Show Shopping Cart - Delete Checkboxes or Delete Button 1
Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location 3
Show New Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 1
Show Featured Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 2

This is a copy and paste. I hope I have not missed a few lines. If I have still help.

Please tell me what I am doing incorrectly. I have tried various combinations and am getting exhausted.

Try setting this to false (highlighted in red)

ADMIN->CONFIGURATION->STOCK
Title Value
Check stock level true
Subtract stock true
Allow Checkout true

This should not allow checkout...and will warn customer that it is not in stock

A friend of mine went into the backend and changed settings. I have no clue which ones were changed. I apologize.

It is working now. :)

It doesn't have anything to do with Admin>catalog>categories/products and click on the product that is saying sold out and change the product qanitity (below the description box) - that usually does it??? how odd well glad it worked whatever they changed :)

Exactly what I'm looking for. I've set the option in Admin - Config - Stock - Show Sold Out Image in place of Add to Cart =1.

But whenever my stock is 0, the product disappear altogether.

BTW, I'm using ZC1.3.7., with mods like BetterCategories (that I think might be interfering with original setup?).

Missed a setting:

Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to
Show Products when out of stock

0= set product status to OFF
1= leave product status ON

If you have the status flip to OFF or 0 ... then you won't see it when sold out ...
