Gift Certificate - More Issues

I have two issues with Gift Certificates:

1. I purchased a Gift Certificate and emailed the total amount to my friend. All went through just fine. She received it, etc. She went to my site and registered and after she entered her information and clicked on "continue" she got a message saying "thank you for redeeming your gift certificate". In my admin it shows the gift certificate was redeemed. She hadn't even put anything in her cart, she just registered.

2. On my "Gift certificates sent" list there is another gift certificate showing as sent today by Admin (the one I sent is also there showing as sent by me yesterday, redeemed today) to a particular email address. I show no record of anyone other than me purchasing a gift certificate and have had no other gift certificates in my queue except the one I purchased.
