help question Can't Change Configure.php After Install

I've just installed ZenCart on a site and am getting a report that I need to set the /public_html/index/includes/configure.php to (read-only, CHMOD 644 or 444).
    Here is a screenshot:

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the FTP or the software but when I go into the FTP and change it to read only it won't chage.
Is this the correct place to change it? If not how can I fix this?

    Thanks

Some servers do not allow 444 settings via FTP. You should log into your server admin C-Panel (or equivalent) via HTTP:// and reset the 444 there.

I'm in the site cPanel with it's FTP program but I don't see where to change the 444.

    Is this the right tool?

No, use CPanel's File Manager to change the permissions. When you're in File Manager, click on the file name and I'll give you the option to change the permissions.

I've just got the same problem today. I didn't have this message for about a week since my install, but today I installed asp on my webhosted server because my hosts (fasthosts.co.uk) said I'd need to do that to enable cURL for paypal payments. So now when I go to my ZC site I have the red banner saying that my configure.php can be written to.

I tried to change permissions in flashfxp but nothing changes when I change the chmod number or check the check boxes to change to read only.
I tried to set the file in windows to read only which works in windows but when i upload to the server the permissions have reset back to 700.

I asked my hosts if I could change the permissions in control panel but they said I had to close this account and put it onto their Linux servers.

    Does that sound right?

    Thanks for any advice.

I have the same problem, and my FTP client with Godaddy.com does not have such tools for me to change it into ready only. What can I do??

I decided to change my account to a Linux hosted one and now this problem is solved. I have another one now with .htaccess but that's another story that I'm waiting for an answer in another thread.
    Good Luck m8.

Ws ftp is an ftp client that you can locate from http://www.ipswitch.com/
I use flashfxp from http://www.inicom.net/pages/en.ffxp-home.php which is a more widely used ftp client (I think).

Just install either, login into your ftp space using the login and password that you'll get from your host and then right click on the files in question and change the permissions. Dead easy really.

This has been a public service announcement from Steven
