Default Using special characters with encoding like ™ etc

    Hi there!

I've run into the problem often where a client using the HTML code for special characters, like ™ for the TM symbol in the product description. Once they go back to edit the description, it turns into a TM symbol, then the page will not validate with XHMTL. Same thing happens with & for ampersands. You can enter & into the description, but the next time you go there its back to &.

Is there any way to force the default text editor to use the HTML code instead of the symbols?

    Jade,

You are not the only one with the problem. It is a case of the safeties doing a bit too much and will be fixed in a future release.

Hey, I have the same problem!
At first I was trying to create a bilingual english and french website and the special character problem kept occuring. I nearly went mad!!!
I'll leave the French version for later on.
Meanwhile, stuff like ™ has to be edited every time I open the page that contains that character in admin. O so much fun...
(Imagine having to do that with 5 different kinds of accents on any given French page, every time you want to change something to a desription... Where is my Paxil?)

I"m glad to read that it will get fixed in the next release. When is that for??? I'll be waiting eagerly for it! (Meanwhile a patch would be sooooo sweet!!!)

Unless I've missed something, this still seems to be an issue in the current release. Any update on this being fixed?

help question Product info pages strips & to &

Every time I edit my product info pages in Admin -> Catalog all the & are stripped to only &, which makes my product info pages unable to HTML validate.
What happens is that I enter the & and zen cart saves it correctly but next time I edit a produt page in admin all the &'s has automatically been stripped to &, and I need to manually change it again. It becomes very tedious.
Does anybody have a solution for this? Any help is much appreciated.
