PayPal Express Checkout: Download ipn_main_handler.php

Problem:
When using PayPal Express the customer is asked to download "ipn_main_handler.php" after clicking on the "Checkout with PayPal" button. Whether that file is saved or the download is cancelled, progress is stopped in the checkout process (customer is not sent to PayPal site).

PayPal IPN appears to function normally.

Action Taken:
I've looked through the forums for similar behaviors, but not found it. I've rechecked my cURL settings (hosted on GoDaddy Linux Hosting) based on the Wiki entry and forum postings. The March 21st PayPal patch has been applied.

Comments:
The gist of other posts suggests that the reliable option is to go with hosting other than GoDaddy. That is certainly on the table, but would rather put the time into something other than transferring to a new hosting company.

Any other suggestions?

I hosted with GoDaddy for years. I like GoDaddy. They are the AOL of hosting with super tech help for the cost of a phone call BUT they have firewall issues, major issues with any non GoDaddy product. Paying somebody month after month for a cart we can't tailor to our needs is no longer an option so I spent six months trying to get a cart up over there and finally gave in & changed hosting.

It has been a long hard road of forced learning but I am hoping that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, after thinking about it a bit more I've decided to go with another host. They'll actually do the move for me and they don't overload their servers, so I'm looking forward to a performance improvement as well.

Found the problem.

The IP address we are told to set for GoDaddy in the Admin section and tutorial is incorrect (at least for my setup).

Instead of using that IP address and socket (64.202.165.130:3128) it should be the URI: http://proxy.shr.secureserver.net:3128

So if anyone else is having PayPal Express checkout issues with GoDaddy, try that address for the cURL proxy.

GoDaddy has recently started using a "name" instead of just an "IP" address.
The information above is correct.
The name happens to resolve to the same IP address ... whether it works or not.

What is curl proxy ? Where do i edit this? please

New problem: Fresh unlogged in customer adds something to cart, clicks check out, is taken to log in or create an account page. I thought this wasnt supposed to happen.

is paypal express enabled? theres supposed to be a large orange button.. that skips the log in / create account page

if there is something else that i have to do other than fix curl and install the express checkout under modules and payments then no its not enabled.
where do I enable?
