Default Please Test - Group Discount Module Clone/Tax Exempt Status Rewrite

I'm A total newbie and I hope this is the right place to post this.

It seems that the Include Shipping, Include Tax and Re-calculate Tax options of the Tax Exempt Status contribution are not currently functioning. I have ZERO PHP/programing knowledge so troubleshooting the code wasn't an option for me. Assuming that the Tax Exempt mod should function the same as, and was likely built from the Group Discount mod I decided to rebuild Tax Exempt Status mod with a clone of the current Group Discount Mod. And it seems to work!

Not having any experience with this sort of thing I don't think it wise to implement this module with out it being tested by someone who knows what they are doing. So if any of the wonderful members of this awesome community are willing to test this Mod to see if it's ready for use I would be very grateful.

Also if this Mod does work and the owner of the Tax Exempt Status contribution wants to upgrade with this version you are welcome to it.

    Thanks!

If I were to write this module, I would do it like this:

Clone the groups module and give the options to name the exempt taxes by NAME. Then, in the tax calculation page, if the customer is part of a tax exempt group then do not apply the taxes that match that name by doing a string comparison with the database. This would eliminate the need for a discount and would simply return $0.00 for the taxes as if the customer was in a tax exempt region.

    For example:

    Native Status Exemption Group
    Tax 1: PST
    Tax 2: GST

Then it would not apply any taxes that have been named PST or GST.

I did something similar to give tax exempt status by group, but it doesn't take into account different kinds of tax. Perhaps my code plus your post will help someone.
