    Default SSL Error

I have purchased an SSL certificate from my host and I have changed the config.php files as indicated in the tutorial. But when I type in www.vanityscare.com it takes me to the http version only as shown in the browser title.

When I view my site using http://www.vanityscare.com it formats and views correctly.

When I type in https://www.vanityscare.com in my browser the text is present on the home page, however all of the background and images are missing and the formatting for the page is incorrect as well.

If I click on one of the links from the https address I get the formated pages but the browser is not displaying the https address (just the http address).

Any clue what I have set up wrong and how to fix it? Thank you in advance for any help.

Your SSL Cert is issed to "www.vanityscare.com" but your SSL links use "vanityscare.com".

Make the changes in both your config files and also make sure SSL settings are changed from "false" to "true".

Thank you so much! I can't believe I missed that part, I must have "double checked" that my changes matched the tutorial several times and am still not sure how I missed adding that www in front. Thank you for catching it though!

I am still a bit confused though when the https:// address it typed in directly the SSL shows up, however it still isn't showing up if someone just types in www.vanityscare.com and I am not seeing the https in any of the page addresses in the browser window still. Is this normal?

Is there another step I am missing to make the address on the site always show https:// ?

When you've sorted the WWW thing Rob talks about, your SSL should work properly.

Zencart will only invoke SSL when sensitive data is being transmitted, so for the most part, your pages will load under http .

However, when a person registers or logs in, or goes to checkout, the data being sent becomes "sensitive" and ZC is clever enough to kick in https at these instances.

Okay, that explains it, I assumed (and you know what happens then) that all the pages would be "secure" but it makes a lot more sense for only the pages that need the security to have it and have Zen Cart decide that automatically.

Thank you guys for the information and explanation!
