"Search" feature in Admin?

While learning how to use my first cart, I added an item that I cannot find now, although it shows up on the "New Products" page. It's not in any of my categories. Another poster said "When trying to delete a product the fasted way I found is to use the search feature in admin", but I can't find a search feature in the Admin section!

Try this:

admin > tools > developers tool kit
At the bottom on left insert your ?, in middle all files:admin/catalog, search

OK, I noticed a "Search" field on some of the Admin pages, but the products I added and now can't find aren't showing up when searching for them. They still show up as "New Products" though...

the same for Global right status 1

They're both set to "1". I admit that I might have cheated there, I only wanted a left sidebar, not a right. I set the right sidebar to 5 pixels, and put nothing there.

Done, they're both set to "1".

How could that affect finding a product, and its category? I'm confused, but it's not the first time since I started this...

I love the cart though, but those newbie problems are really frustrating.
