You will need to give more information to help you on this ...

What is it that you have done so far?

    Clean install? Upgrade?

    What versions?

    How did you install?

    How did you Upgrade?

only the product images are in the files...
The product category structure and the names and descriptions and other things are all stored in the DataBase. So if your backup is only for the site files and you do not also have a database backup then you will have to re-enter this information
