Default Login and Admin pages have changed

    System Configuration:
    PHP 5.2.1
    Windows IIS 6.0 Server
    MySQL 3.5 database

    Your help is needed.

    PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
The login page and admin console both appear as if they are not "connected" to the stylesheet. The admin console has the menus all on the left side, there is no navbar, etc.

    DETAILS:
My hosting company has separate back-up and restore capability for the entire site... down to a single file. The restore capability goes back 10 days.
It also has back-up and restore for the the database.

Yesterday, during the day I was 'stocking' the store. Last evening I went back to check on a few things and the PROBLEM stated above was there. (Has same appearance as if style sheet was not being looked at).

I restored the store to last Friday, backed up the database and restored it to last Friday as well. Problem was still there.

I let it 'rest' overnight (last night), and then this morning went back and restored to a week ago - same problem.

I have another store on the same server, and it works ok.

Could there be a server issue? I do not want to presuppose the problem... can't solve it that way (smile). I just need "YOUR" help.

    Respectfully,

    John Underwood, jund

I've been doing some research on this since it has happened a few times.

I think it may be related to the configure.php file.

In the configure.php file, do you have the site listed as http://domainname.com, or http://www.domainname.com?

In any case, change it to be the other way.

    So if it's
    http://www.

    make it

    http:// instead,

or the other way around would be "

    http://domainname.com

    make it

    http://www.domainname.com

Let me know if that works.

Then if that works, go to http://www.dnsstuff.com/ and lookup your domain name. You my have some dns errors associated with your domain name.

    Boy that's confusing.

Try http://www.dnsreport.com and you don't have to join. just put the domain name in the dns report box.

I had the same problem you're having. I asked my hosting company about it and they said they didn't know, but that I had dns errors on my domain name which is causing my site to sporadicly not come up with www in front of it.

So when I checked at dnsreport.com I found this.

FAILMissing (stealth) nameserversFAIL: You have one or more missing (stealth) nameservers. The following nameserver(s) are listed (at your nameservers) as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the parent nameservers (therefore, they may or may not get used, depending on whether your DNS servers return them in the authority section for other requests, per RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these stealth nameservers are working; if they are not responding, you may have serious problems! The DNS Report will not query these servers, so you need to be very careful that they are working properly.

    ns2.htbaw.com.
    ns1.htbaw.com.
This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example).
FAILMissing nameservers 2ERROR: One or more of the nameservers listed at the parent servers are not listed as NS records at your nameservers. The problem NS records are:
    ns1.myhostcenter.com.
    ns2.myhostcenter.com.

So for some reason I still have my vps ns records associated with my domain name.

Thank you for taking the time to read, study, and answer my request.
I really feel like an idiot... the site has been operational for a year, and for some reason - unbeknown to me the .htaccess file was changed from .htaccess_old back to its original name of .htaccess. I am the only person who could have changed it - however, I must be innocent of such a misdemeanor... because I know the answer to everything.

.htaccess is POISON to a Windows IIS server.

The .htaccess file was 'blocking' the stylesheet. The solution was to delete the .htaccess file. NO LONGER will I rename them - I will trash them.

Again my sincere thanks. The ZENCART forums are the best... because everyone is always willing to step up to the problem and support each other. Again, I thank you.

    Respectfully,
    jund
