Can I have each attribute separately in the shopping cart?

Hello,

I have three checkboxes, each selecting one attribute. (I cannot use the radio buttons because I want the client to be able to select more than one attribute, if they want).
When more than one attribute (let's say two attributes) are selected and ordered, they are grouped in the shopping cart and the quantity box refers to the two of them (there is one quantity box for the product with both attributes).
Is there a way to have each attribute selected to show in the shopping cart as a separate item? This way the client could order different quantities of each attribute in one go.

Alternatively, if I used radio buttons I would have each attribute separately in the shopping cart, but the client should go back and forth from the shopping cart to the product page to order more than one attribute.

Checkboxes are designed to show in combination with one another ...

If you want a Product added to the cart as:
T-Shirt
Red
Small

T-Shirt
Green
Large

Then you need to use either radiobuttons or dropdown where the customer can add the Product separately for each ...

I was trying to avoid forcing the client to go back and forth between page and shopping cart to add diffrent products, but if radio buttons or dropdowns are the only choices, no big deal.
