My orders are not showing Tax

I think I have everything setup correctly and have done this a few times and never seen this before.

When creating an order and everything setup as taxable goods you see $0.0 in the tax area of your order and it is not calculating it on the order.

It however calculates it in the add products page.

Anyone have any idea wher eto look to resolve this. My sit eis www.grade-agifts.com for anyone interested in helping me resolve this. Thanks :)

Apologies for barging in on you like this, but I have a similar problem, (compounded with others) of tax showing as $0.00 in the checkout screen, the Admin Order screen, etc.

In fact I started a thread (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66674) but alas no one has come to the party as yet...

The store is meant to go live Monday so it's pretty urgent.

What do you have the tax rate set to and the priority?

What do you have setup as your Tax Zone and the details?

Thanks for coming to the rescue.
All the details were on the other thread. I guess I could have posted them here too.
Here goes:

Shopping cart step 2: tax amount = $0 (product IS taxable and has different net and gross prices.)
Also notice the words "Sales Tax" My tax rate description is: "GST (12.5%)"
There's also a screen shot.
These are my settings:
-->
1. Admin->Configuration->My Store
a. Country/Zone = New Zealand/New Zealand
b. Basis of Product Tax = Store
c. Basis of Shipping Tax = Store
d. Display Prices With Tax = false (tried true: no change)
e. Display Prices With Tax-Admin = true

2. Zone Definition. 1 zone only, name: NZ Wide
3. Country/zone combination. New Zealand/NZ Wide
4. Tax class: 1 tax class only. GST
5. Tax rate. 1 tax rate only: 12.5%
6. Tax class associated with products. GST
7. Tax class associated with each shipping module. GST (Only 1 shipping module: store pickup)

ZenCart v 1.3.7
And of course if I complete the checkout procedure, and then go view the order in admin, I still get $0 tax, with identical nett and gross prices!

Can't get more simple eh? 1 country, 1 zone, 1 tax class and 1 tax rate. Plus, ALL products are taxable... And yet I can't get around this one.

OK, got it!!!!!!

When I entered the test customer, for some reasons I was never asked for a zone. As a result the test client had no zone in its record, thus no tax definition. As to why it did that???

It took a fresh install on my dev machine...

I confirmed this on the live site.

Now the panic is over, is there a way I can omit shipping altogether in the cart process (step 1) I mean not display the page at all, or failing that not have anything but a message. We do charge shipping but we do not need (nor want) to include it at order time.

When customers order from california it adds the tax at checkout (which is what I want) but when they order from other states, no tax is charged (which is not good) Do I need to set up each state individually? I can't imagine I'd have to do that, can someone direct me as to what to do to fix this?

Also, at the checkout, I've made a mistake somewhere and the tax lists twice like this:

$9.49
Sub-Total:

$1.75
Flat Rate (Best Way):

$1.46
CA TAX 7.75&#37; + CA TAX 7.75%: <---what did I do wrong there? :)

Check in the settings for your Zones ... if you have setup 2 definitions for the tax and made both CA ...
