    application error Products appearing twice in search

    Mayday! Mayday!

    When anyone searches comixpress.com (like http://store.comixpress.com/index.ph...a_filter_id=85
    ) everything that matches shows up twice!

    I don't know what the heck happened. I just had it reported to me today. I've pulled apart the entire directory structure and I can't see what the heck is going on behind the scenes to cause it.

    Do you have the product listed in more than one category?

    They're properly listed under (in this example) Comics by Genre -> Anthology but it appears AGAIN under Comics by Genre with the same product ID.

    I'm confused, even more so because that product ID is only a member of subcategory Anthology of category Comics by Genre.

    Also I just checked the database and several products that exist across multiple categories don't display multiple times when their search string matches.

    What happens if you switch to the Classic Template?

    This is very odd that you have these duplicates ...

    I would probably have to see your Zen Cart Admin, phpMyAdmin and have FTP access to go through things and see what is out of wack ...

    This is not normal behavior for Zen Cart on the search and you should only see 1 of each product even when Linked to multiple categories on the search ...

    Something is out of kilter here ... but there is a lot involved and quite a bit of work to determin the source of the problem ...

    It could be the database tables, or the code, or an add-on or a file that is out of date ...

    You might use something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com to check your files on the server to see if they are all current and up to date or if there is an issue with something being old, changed, etc.

    You can check all the database tables to see if you have something wrong with the:
    products
    products_description
    categories
    categories_description
    products_to_categories

    Or, you can always hire someone to go through and figure out what has really happened here ...

    Without looking at these things I cannot estimate the time involved other than saying at least an hour to several ...

    So the install of Product Type Book could have been the cause of this problem? I didn't have any reports of this happening until I installed it.

    If something was added to the search there is a chance that the select statement is not written correctly for the additional table(s) and this is causing the duplications ...
