GV pricing need some ideas

Our customers recieve a discounted price, which now we have set up as an across the board sale, Just for ease of displaying pricing.
What we are looking to implement is when a gift voucher is used we would like to disable the sale price and only be available for retail purchase. any ideas?

My first idea is that if I came into a store that had things on sale and went to use my Gift Certificate and found I lost the sale prices I'd start looking for another store ...

Why would you want to do this?

GVs are cash ...
