My husband had this same issue and apparently there is a spyware or virus-ridden version out there that shows up in the top search results when you search FireBug... this version causes that error... make sure you're downloading the one directly from FireFox.Hi Battra, last May2007 you submitted the idea of downloading a webdeveloper extension for Firefox. I was able to down load it, but when I attempted to "install" it in Firefox, I got the error message that it was not a valid Win32 application??? To the best of your knowledge, has something changed from when you made your recommendation? Thanks for your help, sounds like something that would be very helpful!

I suggest you visit the Firefox website and see what they have to say about it ... horse's mouth & all that :)
There may be a version for mac that you have to specifically choose to download.
thanks a lot.

i've been using Firefox to edit my css as well and view any changes instantly--you get the split screen with the site on the left and the css on the right.
is there any recommendation against doing this?
(newbie with just a few things under my belt.)
This link was given to me on another post when I couldn't get the Web Developer to download correctly.
Just open this link in Firefox.

The webdeveloper addon is a very valuable tool. You'll be able to tinker with the stylesheet and see the effect immediately, but you'll still have to save your changes separately and upload them to your site to make the changes permanent.

I think it would be much faster to develop your site in localhost, you can install web server for PC such as XAMP or WAMP, after you get desired result only you upload to your site.
You can also see the result of your CSS editing with the help of Web Developer addon much easier.
Thanks for posting - that's a great tool! I've been using FireBug alone, but this will help immensely, too! :-)
