help question Contributions/Modules that affect (required) attributes?

    Hi Zenners,

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out by telling me if/which of any of the following contributions/modules that I have installed could possibly be affecting my attributes?

First of all, the problem I'm having is this: Customers can add items to the cart without inputting required text attributes. If they do not select a display only required dropdown attribute, they get the warning message to select the required display only attribute, but then the required text attribute boxes are gone and they can add the item to the cart without the text attributes as long as they select the dropdown one. (We sell custom pet clothes and therefore attributes are very important). Example Here

So I've been going through my store looking to see if any of the following contributions that I've installed could have caused this problem but so far am coming up empty. I'm fairly certain that this problem occurred quite recently and I do know for sure that this all functioned properly once upon a time, so I'm listing the contributions in reverse order (as best I can remember) starting from most recently installed in the hopes that someone might be able to help me identify the root of my problem:

    - Add Phone Number & Subject to Contact Us (I combined elements from 2 separate contributions)
    - Email Archive Manager (by Frank Koehl)
    - Google XML Sitemap (by Andrew Berezin)
    - Backup mySQL Database Plugin (by Dr. Byte)
    - *Cross Sell (updated by Dr. Byte)
    - *Cart Upsell (by TooLateSmart)
    - Bestsellers Thumnail Images (by PaulS)
    - Image Handler 2 (by Tim Kroeger)
    - PayPal Sessions Viewer (by Dr. Byte)
    - Google Translate Sidebox
    - Login Sidebox (by Linda McGrath)
    - Custom Templates (by Merlin)
    - Newsletter Subscribe (by Sara Jacobson)
    - Encrypted Master Password (by Dennis Sayer)
    - Easy Populate (by Nicholas Keown)
    - About Us Page
    - EZ Pages on Sitemap (by Gerard)
    - Add Customer from Admin (by Aerodynamic_hippo)

    * I've tried removing the coding for these 2 contributions (Cart Upsell & Cross Sell) from my tpl_product_info_display.php but it did not fix the problem.

Our store is still fairly new but we are getting increased traffic, so any help at all would be most appreciated because attributes play a huge role in our ordering system with as about 90% of our products are custom.

Thank you all very much! (Even if you didn't come up with anything, thank you for reading! )

With 18 mods - I suggest a couple of things - first switch to the classic template and see if it is the same - if not then this is not a mod issue bet a template issue.

If it remains the same - then I suggest that you follow the similar procedure as for an upgrade and install another instance of Zen Cart in another folder with it's own DB...at first with out the mods and set up one test product that matches one in your store and see the displays. Then add the mods one at a time checking in between installs for the status.

Yeah I know alot of work but owing to the number of permutations available with the #of mods available there is no compendium of cross compatibility

    Hey pointOfsale,

Someone just came up with a fix for this problem. Both I and another person who had the same problem have tested it and it worked. You can get it at the following link:

    Cheers!
