Part order or back order

Is there a way to part deliver an order? The products we are selling are made to order and in some circumstances we may like to part ship and have a back order. Is the possible in Zen Cart?

I've just found the edit orders module which gives part of the solution. What would be nice is to either be able to only deliver some of the order lines or to be able to create a back order for the same customer and add the items that can't be delivered.

Any ideas or has something like this been done before?

Just another question on the back order topic, is it an issue for anyone else and how do you take care of the problem? Do most people simply hold the order until it can be completed?

I take what I would call forward orders and keep them on file until such time that the stock arrives. Sometimes I have to split the order into two part orders, in that case I create to separate invoices in my accounts software.

Hi Wolfsz,

I thought that's how most people would handle it. I was hoping to be able to use the invoices and shipping dockets from the site, no great loss. It would be a nice feature as the account history would be accurate then. Might place a post in the wish list.
