Hi

I want to offer a discunt based on the net total of an order regardless of what items make up that order. Is this possible or do I need to get an additional module to handle this?

I'd use a coupon code to do this. You could post the coupon code on your site and tell people what the code is to put in their cart. I've had other sites offer this promo and tell me the code to put in the cart.

dreamscape also made a nice Discount Orders Total module that offers a flat discount regardless of order ...

This could be adapted to change that discount based on the amount of the order ...
