checkout requires LOGIN ???

During checkout, ZenCart serves the visiting customer a 'LOGIN or REGISTER with us' page...
At this page the customer is REQUIRED to Register with my site or to Login...

I have to assume this portion of the checkout process can be REMOVED as an option.

I couldn't see anyone who hopes to finalize a purchase requiring a first time customer to 'register'.

They came to buy something, and this page is unnecessary 'red tape'.

How do I remove the requirement that a customer LOGIN or REGISTER ?

You require this information to be able to know who and where to ship their purchase - So this is not un necessary 'red tape' ---

You might decide to alter the text around this more to your liking but this is an order tracking requirement

The address is necessary for shipping, yes.

BUT at the bottom of the checkout form, there are REQUIRED FIELDS for:

LOGIN DETAILS:
** EMAIL ADDRESS
** PASSWORD

PASSWORD ?? bye bye customer!

and byebye zencart lol

If you are really opposed to the idea of customers "logging in" or "registering", there are two mods that avoid that: Checkout Without Account by KGZotU/J_Schilz, and No-Account Checkout by craftzombie. Look for them in the forum.
