Default How do i import from Turbo Lister

    Hello,

I'm new to this package and websites in generally.

A friend is using the zen cart for their site.

I've been charged with adding the products.

Most of them are already stored in her turbo lister.

Is there anyway i can get those items in turbo lister imported onto the site.

    Thanks

    David

I've seen quite a few questions regarding this. The simple answer is no. While Turbo Lister can export listings into a flat file, this is not compatible with EZpopulate or any other existing mod.

You can take the data from that file and create a flat file in the EZpopulate format, but this still takes extensive editing if you have many listings to convert.

Hopefully we will see a mod to do something like this in the future!

Can Turbo Lister export the data as a CSV file, or a tab-delimited TXT file, that can then be opened in MS Excel?

    schoolboy,

Yes, Turbo Lister can export current listings into a file that can be opened and edited in Excel or a similar spreadsheet program. Problem is, the data is not formatted in a way that the EZpopulate mod can understand. Some heavy editing is required to convert this data over into the EZpopulate format. Still, this may be faster than using the Zen administration area to add products one by one.

    Hope that helps!

Just a quick note, I decided to start up this two year old thread because of the amount of questions out there... hopefully this will clarify things for new(er) users!

Working with huge product lists will always be faster in a spreadsheet - regardless of how it is initially formatted. Bear in mind there are some very nifty formulas in Excel that can help with mass editing and re-arranging of data.
