Maybe the database itself is non properly done.
I did a ddump from my ext. server (I can't install ZEN because of permission's settings limits and I need to be sure that I can have ZEN working before evaluate a server migration to unix or lnux platform (the present one is on Windows and they told that I can't change permissions in the way ZEN installer requires

Maaybe somebody of yours - very very kind - has got a small DB with psw and username already setted, to try and test my installation?
Or even few info on how to set user and psw on a database?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi Sophia,

After starting XAMPP, use your browser and navigate to http://localhost/phpmyadmin and import your ext server's database dump into your local machine.

After that edit the settings in both your configure.php files to point to your local database, etc.

    Thanks Canopy
Trying to do what you told me (openin' phpMyAdmin) I've got this message:
    • Error: 2002 (CR_CONNECTION_ERROR)
Message: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '%s' (%d)
(actually the message was in italian :)
Do you know what does it mean? I mean: how may I try to fix that?

(any problem opening phpSQLiteAdmin, but it doesn't seem to suit the job you told me to get the dump database connected)

Which version of XAMPP do you have installed? You have also started Apache and MySQL also?

    XAMPP is 0.6.1 version.
I started everything... but it sounds like MySQL doesn't ... don't understand why
I've had problems with sqLIte, then I switched to php 4 and then it worked.

What do you think about it?

Post the exact error message you see when you attempt to start up your XAMPP installation here.

    Something like:

Starting XAMPP for MacOS X 0.6.1...
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP4)...
    XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
    XAMPP for MacOS X started.

Btw, have u installed a previous version of XAMPP or another software package with MySQL running before?

the only error message I got is when I attempt to click on the phpMyAdmin (the one I gave you previously), but any error shows when starting XAMPP.

This is what I see when startin 'up:

Starting XAMPP for MacOS X 0.6.1...
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP4)...
    XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
    XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...
    XAMPP for MacOS X started.

Btw, have u installed a previous version of XAMPP or another software package with MySQL running before?

My OS is 10.4.9 - iMac Intel 2,0

    Thanks for your patience

What do you see when you type http://localhost/xampp in your web browser after starting XAMPP?

Idea or Suggestion Re: Where do I put database and...?

I have an Italian Mac OSx and XAMPP installation was inconsistently installed in different places/folders (i.e.: APPLICAZIONI instead of Applications on the User Home). This caused problems, specially with SQL.
So I switched to MAMP and solved the problem.
