Where can I set defaults for new products?

Where can I set defaults for all that fields you have to enter when you add a product?

Most of my product require the same settings
Product is Free: No
Product is Call for Price: No
Product Priced by Attributes: Yes
Tax Class: --none--
Products Price (Net): 1:40
Products Price (Gross):
Product is Virtual: Yes, (downloadable goods)
Free Shipping No, Normal Shipping Rules
Quantity Box Shows: No, Do not show Quantity Box

That will keep me from making mistakes by forgetting one or two:S

Product type layout. but you have to define the product types first. Me thinks.

This seems to apply to many of the Product settings. However, I do not see where to set the default in this panel (Catalog>Product Types>Product General>Edit Layout) for the Product Quantity Box Shows. Am I overlooking it? Is it located in a different settings panel?

I see how the solution posted in that thread applies to wanting a default quantity in the quantity box when a product is imported. However, in this case, I'd just like the quantity box to appear by default. Quantity at zero is fine because I'm using the "add selected products to cart button" for my product listing. Wouldn't want the customers having to zero out products they don't wish to purchase.

I also see the settings listed in the admin/includes/modules/product/collect_info.php file. Since I am not fluent in php, I do not know what words I would alter to have the Quantity Box show by default for added products. Wouldn't there be a way to set the "Products Quantity Box Shows: Yes, Show Quantity Box" through the admin panel?

Creative, yeah, sorry for the confusion. My post was directed at mrbert as a solution to his problem. The reason you can't find what you are looking for in Catalog>Product Types>Product General>Edit Layout, is because it is not found in that location.

If you want to set whether a qty box shows for products or not, you just have to make sure you set the following from within the Product New or "Edit" screen (when editing or entering a product):

Products Quantity Box Shows:

As long as you set that to "Yes", then the qty box will show at the individual product level.

If you are talking about making the qty box show at the "listing level", then you will also want to make sure you go to:

Configuration > Product Listing

and find this section Display Product Add to Cart Button (0=off; 1=on; 2=on with Qty Box per Product) Make sure you set that accordingly. "0" is off.

This is EXACTLY what I want to do, but I would prefer not to individually edit each product to accomplish this setting. Can this be done on a global scale so all new imported products have the above setting?

Found it! Ajeh to the rescue yet again.

The default in the database table for products should be 1 ...

I am not sure what you are using in your import, but setting that to 1 is what you want ...

If you cannot do this on the import then you can run it via the Tools ... Insert SQL Patch ...

UPDATE products SET products_qty_box_status = 1;
