    Default Multilingual zencart

    Hello,

I am new to zen cart, and I didn't find information about this issue.
I would like a truely multilingual cart. I have purchase pages in 3 languages
now. What I would like to see is that if I call the online shop from a Japanese
page, it simply displays in Japanese and the cart is configured to buy in yens.
If I call the cart from a French page, it should display in French, and the
currency should be configured to Euros and so on for the upcoming languages.
Having a configuration button (default in english and the user chooses after
coming to the online shop) is one step too much.

Is there already a pointer existing to help me to do this?

    Thanks,

    Pascal

mean to say the downloads page --- there is a multi language pack in the languages download section. I did not really read it but that's the title of it.

Zen Cart is inherently multilingual. Text and textual buttons are held in folders specific to each language and drawn upon depending upon which language the visitor selects.

This is built into the structure and doesn't require add-ons (unless you want multilingual EZ-Pages!), though you would probably want the French and Japanese language packs to give you a headstart.

There is not however an explicit linkage between language and currency. Normally visitors indicate language and their choice of currency, though as they are held as session variables it would be pretty easy to set them to your preferred values when beginning to build the entry page for the cart, which would achieve what you are after (but probably frustrate a minority of visitors).

    Go to your admin.

Click on Configuration, click my store.

In there, look for Switch to Default Language Currency and set it on true. (its false by default. When it's done, when you change your language, you will automatically change the currency at the same time.

    Hope it helps.
Pascal, if you speak French, I do to :-)

Have you seen the userCurrency mod in Downloads?

It automatically sets currency based on user location, with user-selectable options, and has other configurable features.

So do I get this right?
If I go to Administration>Configuration>My Store and switch Default Language Currency to true, Zen cart will show my site in the appropriate language according to the visitor. And if I add information pages by adding files in the directory which stores main_page.php etc instead of using the ez-pages, it should all convert into the appropriate language?
Then if I add the module User Currency, zen cart will include multiple currency options as well.

    Is that correct please?

Zen Cart only comes with English out of the box. If you want other languages, you will need to download and install them (there are language packs for many common languages).

Zen Cart will open in whatever language you set as default, and display flags for the installed languages so the user can switch if desired. The Default Language Currency switch presets the currency to match the default language.

The User Currency mod reportedly will detect the user's location and set currency display accordingly, but it will not change the displayed language. That would require additional coding.

Information pages built as separate pages (not ez-pages) will automatically draw from the correct language folder, but you will need to create the translations first and put them in that folder.

    Hmmm Sounds complicated.
Do you know anyone who helps install these at a cost?
