Zencart setup

I am trying to install zencart for the 1st time.

I have got as far as the database setup page but keep getting an error 'database does not exist'.

I have checked all of the settings - database name, username and password and database host and they are all exactly as listed in my database control panel.

i have checked with my host who say the database is correctly setup but obviously they will not provide support for Zencart.

Has anyone any ideas please as to what may be causing this error.
