Default I Have Paypal, I Have Zencart...

What I want to do is have it so I email my customers a payment request and they are taken to a non-paypal page to pay. I also want to give them the ability to enter in the payment amount and make a payment. I also want the ability to have buy now buttons on my website wherein, a person clicks the button and is not taken to a paypal page, but stays on my custom pages. Is this possible with Zencart? I don't need a shopping cart solution.

Why would I pay with paypal on your non-paypal page??

I guess that you do not require a shopping cart?? So why use one??

I need to use something to process payments, but I want my website layered over top. I don't want them forwarded to paypal or other webpages. thanks

Zen Cart is designed to be the main web site and is not modular so that you can not just use the pieces you want.

I would not enter my paypal information in any other page but a valid "PayPal" web site...Nor my CC info if I thought that this was not secure

What I think this phrase meant is that this user would like to keep her / his customers within the store while doing the payment without the needs to forward it to another site. If so, you can always do it with Linkpoint API or Authorize.net or even Element5.com. Of course, there might be others. These two are simple suggestions.

Personal choice I might say. Althought, you might want to consider the fact that Zen-Cart also involves other payment processing than Paypal since this is just one of them listed feature. Otherwise, it wouldn't be listed - period.

A bit off topic: Yes and one that is not only recommended by PayPal but highly warned about...

This is like the keys to the vault as different than a CC, there is little cross validation abd not the same recourse as with a CC.

Justy as I wold not trust a site with my CC info that did not use a SSL Cert I stand by the PayPal stance with their concurrence.

Google for the cerdit card PCI debate/rules

The mission: How to enable our website to stay away from paypal landing pages? That is, once a customer clicks the custom buy button on our webpage, how to enable it so the customer is NOT directed to a paypal landing page, which completes their transaction?

I would like our webpages to be the place where their data is entered in (i.e. credit card info, etc.), where they submit the purchase, etc., all without ever seeing those dang paypal landing pages. How about doing this by proxy?

My goal is thus to layer my website over top of paypal like wrapping paper.

Your choices are to accept CC's and process via a gateway and you need a merchant account at your bank of choice -

PayPalProFlo accepts the CC on your website and is the gateway(formerly verisign) an I am not positive about actual PP payments

all have costs and/or have monthly fees...

PP has an API that you could write your own with also
