Default Product Listing Default Sort Order

    BS”D

In Configuration->Product Listing-> Display Product Listing Default Sort Order it says:
NOTE: Leave Blank for Product Sort Order. Sort the Product Listing in the order you wish for the default display to start in to get the sort order setting. Example: 2a

I don’t understand your example. What options are available here and what does 2a mean?

Right now I have it left blank and the products are being displayed in the Date Added (oldest first). How can I change it to Product Sort Order?

    Thanks,
    Mordechai

When the Product Listing is displayed, click on the titles ... you will see a sort=#x in the URL ... that is the sort order setting for that display ...

Get the display in the order that you want for the default to be ... then using that sort=#x enter that as the Sort Order on the Product Listing ...

It seems like I do not get any sort=#x in the URL when I click on mine,
one of my listing categories is:
    dadd yeso nusa DOT com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_3_8

URL for the first product in the list:
    dadd yeso nusa DOT com/shop/index.php?main_page=document_product_info&cPath=2_3_8&products_id=51

Question: is the _id=# my current sorting order and do I need to enter that? and will it be possible to order products by date added?

    Thanks in advance
    Francisco

If you click on Item Name you will see:
    &sort=2a

So you would enter 2a in the Product Listing Sort Order, if you wanted to sort on Product Name ...

Actually, that is a misnomer ...

The Sort Order is also determined by what your individual columns are in the Product Listing ...

So your Model might be 1a but mine might be 4a ...

The better way to know what to use is to go to the Product Listing on your site and click the headers until you are in the right order ... then, look in the URL for the &sort=#x and enter your #x for the sort order ...

    Hi,
In the last post you say to:

"go to the Product Listing on your site and click the headers until you are in the right order ... then, look in the URL for the &sort=#x and enter your #x for the sort order ..."

but I don't have headers when I look at my product listing.

I have the same issue as Tracy. I don't have headers that are clickable in my catalog - eg http://prestonribbons.com/catalog/in...dex&cPath=17_5 - and I don' see sort= in the url of the browser. Do I need to try all possible combinates of number-letter to find the right combo to make this work?

    Thanks

    Follow up to this thread.

Can you sort by model number without displaying it in the product listing?
