    help question Express Checkout issue with my downloadable products v1.3.7.1

    10413 Transaction refused because of an invalid argument. See additional
    error messages for details. - The totals of the cart item amounts do not
    match order amounts.


    Product set to free, product is virtual, product has attribute with price ... paypal express checkout, customer gets sent in loop in checkout pages, Admin gets email with above error.

    Checkout works fine for PayPal IPN...

    Any ideas?If this is a bug?

    First question ... why did you set your product settings that way ?
    1. A downloadable product doesn't need to be marked virtual.
    2. If you set the product to be "free" but made it priced-by-attributes and then added a price, aren't you confusing things?

    If not using Priced by attributes but added prices to the attributes do you have them marked as "attributes are free when product is free"?

    Order Total Module Shipping and Sub-Total were off. It's what seemed to be causing the issue ... Thanks for the insight guys!

    I suppose we could just completely remove the enumerated line-item details from the PayPal receipts, and then the problem goes away because it never needs to read the subtotals details.

    Yes, that's why those should be turned on. Other infrastructure components also typically operate better when they're enabled.
    Normally they'd only be disabled if your store was only a showcase and wasn't planning to actually sell anything or collect money for any reason.

    It must also be something to do with marking the item as virtual when it is a downloadable product.

    I had the proper order total modules activated but virtual turned on and received this error. Turning virtual off for the product seems to have solved the issue.

    Nevermind, it doesn't appear to work... I'm going to continue testing...

    This is the error message:

    ALERT: PayPal Express Checkout Error (10417)
    10417 Transaction cannot complete. - The transaction cannot complete successfully. Instruct the customer to use an alternative payment method.
