check out css over ride not working

I have a zen cart 1.3.7.1 that I am running and I cant seem to get a css override working for the check out pages. I have tried calling it checkout_shipping.css, checkout.css, checkout_all.css, and non are takers.
I have even tried having a copy of the doc in both the template_default/css and the template_custom/css folders.
what am I doing wrong?

Try style_checkout.css

When I do that, it makes the mods across the whole site.

The penny drops. I see what you're trying to do.

The correct name would be checkout_shipping.css and it would go in your-template/css folder.

I just tried this using a one line css file that simply said "h1 {color:red}" and it worked beautifully.

If that's still not working for you I would recommend taking a closer look at the common/htm_header.php file that is active on your site and dumping the contents of the $sheets_array to check that it includes "/checkout_shipping" when you're on that page. If not, you'll need to work backwards to work out why.

yeah, I realized that I had to do some merging of the html_header.php about the same time that you added that post. it is an old template, and I have not merged every thing. that was my issue.
