    Default Australian GST for OS?

    Hi Guys,

So far I'm using Paypal IPN.

I understand I can set a Tax Class/Rate, which I have for 10% and called it Australia. Apparently we can charge OS clients the GST and they claim it back... in some regions/countries. If so I guess we just include GST for everyone... or do we?
At what point in te payment process does Paypal/the system/the customer decide whether they pay GST or not?

    Also:
We have plugged in the Aus POst calculator but there will be too many options for OS customers so it would be good at some point along the way to say... "this is your total so far, email us to discuss shipping". Is that possible? How?

    Thanks,
    Brad.

Normally, one sets this up as GST for the 8 AU areas and levies this based upon shipping address. So if outside the AU the cart will not charge the GST.

Another will have to respond about the AU post

    G'day Brad,

Kobra has answered your GST question so I won't repeat it.

As for the AustPost calculator, exactly what do you mean by "too many options for OS customers"?
The only options given are Airmail & Seamail (with or without insurance), and you can disable any or all of these from the admin control panel.

Perhaps you could rephrase the question/problem?

    Cheers

    Gday RodG (you Aussie)

Seems I may not need to rephrase, it seems you have 'clariified my confusion'.

Where would I find these options?
"...options given are Airmail & Seamail (with or without insurance)..."

Also how do I go about setting up "one sets this up as GST for the 8 AU areas"

yes it looks like i'll need a bit of hand holding til I get the swing of it.

This should be self evident after you have installed the module.

You'll find that most of the questions you'll have are already been answered in the FAQ files and/or the forums. PLEASE search/read these files BEFORE asking questions. It's not that we don't wish to help you, but it does get tiresome answering the same qustions over and over again, and no one person will be able to answer all the queries you may have. For example, I'm very intimate with the AustPost shipping module (I wrote it), but I really don't have much of a clue in regards to tax zones.

    Cheers

I had done plenty of searching and reading.

After a couple more days looking I have not yet found reference to airmail and seamail. (Even the latest google search only came up with my own thread)

I guess I just keep looking.

    thnx anyway.

Which AustPost module did you install?

The "original" module comes as 3 or 4 seperate modules within a single package. You must enable and configure each module separately.

The "AustPost improved" is a single module that has tick boxes for all the different shipping options.

You'll still have to continue your search in regards to your GST questions. There are lots of threads regarding this.
BTW, you'll have far more success in getting replies if you only ask *one* question per message.

    Cheers
    Rod
