you can use the SEO URLS mod in the download area to accomplish this...

    Hi humbll
how can i change .htaccess and edit the word /shop/?
can't open .htaccess with frontpage or dreamweaver to edit it?
after i edit, where i should upload it! to the root of the domain or under /public_html/ which contains all my domain names?

    thank you.

i use notepad++ to edit stuff like that, search for "notepad plus" on sourceforge.net - The regular notepad.exe that comes with windows will work fine, too.

.htaccess goes in the root of the domain you want it to affect.

I am not sure of the ther question, what exactly are you needing to change from /shop to what? is it a set of instructions you are following? if so post the instruction here...

Unless you know exactly what you are doing with .htaccess and mod rewrite, you need to be aware that you can mess things up badly.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

for your store, you have the files in the root, so it would be:
    RewriteBase /
and as for step 4, once you have .htaccess in the root and the folders uploaded, you go into your admin area, hover on CONFIGURATION-->SEO URLS will be in there, click it and configure the contrib settings. I don't use it so i don't know what to put there, but it will probably be self explainatory... if not, post the options here and i will try to help.. I do know that your hosting server must have the mod_rewrite engine turned on or this won't work. Godaddy turns it on by default on all servers, but each company is different..

    no, just plain:

    RewriteBase /

because your store is not in a subdirectory..
