    red flag problems logging into admin NOW no db cache

    I have been having problems logging into admin, getting a message that I have entered the wrong user name or password.

    I have (had) two functioning carts. After much reading in the forum I thought this might be a server or host problem & asked my host to check into it. The immediate result was my carts became inaccessible at all from the front end!

    One shows a zen error message
    - Sorry there seems to be a problem connecting to our database
    the other has this message

    1146 Table 'xxxxxxxx_zc1.xxxxxxxx_db_cache' doesn't exist
    in:
    [db_cache table]
    My host's nice CSR emailed me that I have no db_cache file on either cart AND that this table is missing from the backup.... she wants to 'restore' the databases. Since the backup is also missing this table I am assuming she means reload the cart.

    This fills me with alarm. Won't this remove everything? All my product?

    I am not a programmer. I don't understand a lot of the lingo. My hosting is linux and has a CPanel. Sincerely appreciate clear and simple instructions and or advice to

    (1) replace this table in the databases, and then
    (2) find out and fix whatever was causing the original access to admin problem.

    Thanks
    Henrietta

    A partial solution with heartfelt thanks to "An English Gentleman"

    This message:
    1146 Table 'xxxxxxxx_zc1.xxxxxxxx_db_cache' doesn't exist
    in:
    [db_cache table]
    was caused by a snarl up in the portion of

    public_html/admin/includes/configure.php
    which defines the db connection.

    I have been down for a week & would never have found this in a million years by myself.

    1. Do you get the "EXACT" same error message? Or just similar?
    Please post EXACTLY what error you're getting. Even the slightest difference can point to a completely different problem.

    2. When did your problem "start"? What changed just before it started happening?
    Did you just do an upgrade? Change servers? Rename folders? Edit your configure.php files?
    etc.

    The more detail you provide about your problems, the better we can help.

    If you don't provide ANY info, you'll not get any help. We can't read minds.

    This means that the database details specified in your configure.php files don't point to the same database where your Zen Cart data is stored.
    If it "used to" work, but you changed your configure.php file or altered your database in some way, you'll need to check and fix your database details in the configure.php file.

    ie, these settings:
    Code:
      define('DB_TYPE', 'mysql');
      define('DB_PREFIX', '');
      define('DB_SERVER', 'localhost');
      define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', '');
      define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', '');
      define('DB_DATABASE', '');
