How can I get rid of the |_ that appears before each product name?

Go to admin - Configuration - Layout Settings and look for Categories Separator between the Category Name and Sub Categories |_

Is there a way to show/hide each category so they don't all show up? I want to be able to click category name and then show the product. click another category, the first category closes and then shows the products for the newly clicked category.

I am SUDDENLY having problems with this. I'm sure I must have done something to make it stop working right, but I have NO idea what it could be.

I have this plug-in installed. It was working fine. Now, when I click on a product, it goes to a blank page. Here's what's happening.
This is the link that shows in the address bar when clicked from the menu on the left:

This is what SHOULD have been in the address bar/URL:

Like I said, I have NO IDEA what I have done to make the mod not work. I haven't touched that in weeks. It was working yesterday.
Please help. any and all ideas,, thoughts, etc... welcome!!!
