master_categories_id and products_price_sorter - What are they?

I'm writing a bit of code that will let me insert new items very very quickly by reading the fields from a file and creating the queries to INSERT INTO the approrpiate fields from the tables products, products_description, products_to_categories. I don't think I need to be concerned with any other table for the new products - they are just General products with no options or attributes. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know :)

But I'm not sure what to insert into the two fields mentionned above - master_categories_id and products_price_sorter. What do these fields manage? From reading other posts, I gather they have something to do with linked categories, which I sometimes need to create for items.

Never mind my first question - a little more research on the forum pointed me to the wiki :

But if anybody has something to say about which tables and which fields I absolutely need to consider, that reassuring info will definitely be welcome!

So far all tests I'm running on my test version of the online store are good - I think I'm going to start saving a lot of time!

Finaly I was wrong - I'm not sure I understand even after reading the Wiki entry I still have questions about those two fields.

Is the content of master_categories_id supposed to be the same as categories_id field in the products_to_categories table?

The Products are all stored in Categories which is store in the products_to_categories table ...

When there is 1 categories_id for a products_id in that table then this will match the master_categories_id ...

Where there are more than 1 categories_id in the products_to_categories table for a products_id ... 1 of these categories_id numbers is designated the master_categories_id for pricing purposes as there is only 1 Products that has multiple categories_id in the products_to_categories table ...

Using this master_categories_id prices are calculated and the Product is managed when a categories_id must "own" a products_id ...
