Special Square Foot Pricing Attribute

OK. I want to set up attribites for a customer to order canvas prints. I want the total price to be determined by the square footage of the attributes. For instance, a customer chooses 30" x 40". 30" SIDE is one attribute and 40" SIDE is the other. That is rounded to 8.25 Sq feet. At $5/Sq Foot that comes to a total of $41.25.

Can someone suggest how this could be implimented? I can see that the attibutes controller is quite advanced. I just need a push and some suggestions from the pros here on this one.

If you need to offer this in inches i.e. 30"x40" - then pricing by the sq inch would be easier than converting in the background to sq ft. and you can specify min and units if desired.

Thanks Kobra. I will try it. How would it multiply the 2 lengths to egual the SQ inches?

In theory if I use your example and order a 30x40 print at .0347/sq inch the total would come to $416.40

What would be the correct way to se this up?

You would have to add a routine to grab the entered values and do the math for this and pass it on to the cart. I believe the best place for this might be includes/classes/shopping_cart.php at about line 225 or so is the relavent code and you need to add your calc before this.

This file is not overrideable so take the necessary precautions...I usually down load to the local then rename the server copy to shopping_cart.orig to preserve it and to also let me know that I have edited this core file

Do you know of anyone that can put that together for a reasonable cost? Shoestring budget is my obstacle.
