Question about shipping functionality

I need to know if the following is possible with the built in shipping functionality.

Say I have my shipping set up with the table rate but also have some (virtual) items that I want to always have free shipping. Is this possible to do? It seems that the free shipping options are geared toward free shipping over a certain amount and not necessarily for certain products? Or am I missing something?

Each product has the option to have free shipping.

When you create a new product, you are presented with these options:

Code:

Product is Virtual:
  	  Yes, Skip Shipping Address
          No, Shipping Address Required
Always Free Shipping: 	  
          Yes, Always Free Shipping  
          No, Normal Shipping Rules
          Special, Product/Download Combo Requires a Shipping Address
