I need Help on setting up everything

There is a ton of information in the tutorials/FAQ section.

To create a very basic custom template (you can build from there), you need:

• includes/languages/YOUR_TEMPLATE/english.php
• includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/index.php
• includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/header.php (to change the logo)
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_header.php
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer.php
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/images/logo.gif
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css

Anywhere you see a /classic/ folder, you can create a folder for your custom template. You can copy the necessary files from either the /classic/ folder, the /template_default/ folder or the parent folder.

Edit includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php to give your template identifying information so you'll recognize it in the admin under tools->template selection.

Then, when you're comfortable with ZC as a whole, you can start the customization process and seek out other tutorials and information for that process.

I'm in the same boat. I downloaded a template and I can't figure out how to install it. I can get into the admin stuff, but I don't know how to get into anything else. Where do I find these files?

If you don't have ZC installed on your local computer, do so now. You don't have to be able to run it locally, but if you unzip it onto your local computer, you'll be able to see the directory/file structure and the directions will start to make sense.

In order to use the template on your website, you'll need an FTP client to do the uploading. FileZilla is a good free one.

Thanks for your reply. I have FTP access now, but I don't know where to put the template folder. I can't find anything in the directory that looks like a good place to put it. I found a folder called "www" and put it in there, but it won't recognize the template on the admin. Should there be a folder labeled "templates" or are there specific files I should replace?

The template files have to be installed in the same folders as the regular Zen Cart files. You shouldn't be REPLACING anything. You should be adding information.
