Attributes - "More Info" / "Buy Now" Help please.

Hi guys,

I'm currently putting together my mp3 store and I've come across this little problem.

Basically as I'm sure you all know to have a downloadable product you need to add at least 1 attribute. In my case just stating that it is an mp3 and adding the file that will be downloaded.

When you add attributes to a product, on the listing page the "Buy Now" button is replaced with a "more info" text link. I can understand that this is because with attributes usually your customer would have to select some options before purchasing.

Now for my site there are no decisions to make for my customers, there is no need for them to see more info as it’s just the same description/picture as the listing.

I've spent many hours looking through loads of forum posts and from what I can see there isn't a solution for this? I've seen people with similar problems but not this.

This is my second time of asking for help, first time I didn't get any replies... maybe I didn't describe my problems very clear before.

Hopefully someone will find the time to give me a little advice.

Unfortunately, what you are trying to do is not a simple modification.

The product listing page does not know what attributes are available for a product, it only knows if a product has attributes. In order to restore the Buy Now button, you'd need a workaround for that.

Either you'd need to include the attribute information in the form on the product listing page or you'd need to just break the Buy Now / More Information feature and have the Buy Now button be there all of the time. If the latter you'd further need to modify the shopping cart code to look up added products and append an attribute if one is missing.

I'd be partial to the latter because it could be done with less core code changes by using the Observer Class system.

Either way, it's going to be a not small amount of work.
