[Done v1.3.8] No newlines in Text-Only Message

When I create an email in Tools > Send Email, and click 'preview', the text-only message has no newlines; all lines run into each other so the message is just one long line. Text-only customers receive it like that too.

I've tried all combinations of PHP/sendmail and LF/CRLF, all with the same result.
(I know LF/CRLF is a header setting but I thought I'd try anyway )

It may not be relevant but images (including header.jpg) don't 'arrive' either, just image place-holder boxes.

I'm using version 1.3.7.1
I'm on a Linux server.
'Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails' is set to true.

Any ideas?

1. Are you supplying any text-only content? Or are you just hoping that your HTML content will be automatically converted?

2. I'm not surprised that the preview screen might look odd. That'll be cleaned up in a later release.

3. Is this happening to *all* emails, or just the manual emails from Admin->Tools ?

HTML has no linefeeds in the document, so if you enter everything in the HTML editor window, yes the resulting converted, stripped and cleaned text is all run together into one long block.
This doesn't happen in the automatically generated messages because the HTML and text emails are separately generated. I think the original concept was that if you wished to send a text email you would compose it in the text window.
Possibly naive in retrospect, the lure of WYSIWYG editors is irresistible.

Yes, it is only in the manual emails.

I understand now.

When I re-type the message in the text-only box it does arrive OK with its newlines.
But it is still all one line in the preview.
Given how amazing this software is in so many other ways, I can live with that small glitch

If you are feeling brave, a Google search for html2text php will show up several php scripts that claim to do this on the fly and automatically. I've never tried them, but it could be called on the way to the preview page...
