Shipping as percentage of total

I would like to calculate shipping as a percentage of the total plus a handling fee. Is this possible with the standard ZenCart install or is there a module that would allow this?


example: shipping would be $5.00 + 10% of the order total.

In version 1.2 of Zen Cart, I had a shipping module installed, percent.php

I do not see that as part of the v1.3.7.1 installation anymore.

I looked at the table shipping module but it does not appear to just do a simple shipping calculation of, for instance, shipping= 25% of total order cost. I also looked at the table.php hack and that doesn't seem to offer the simple funcionality that I need either.

Certainly a simple "charge a percentage of total for shipping" can't be that difficult to create.

How would this be accomplished?

What I need to move forward with the 1.2 to 1.3.7.1 upgrade are the same options that were available to me in the percent.php module of yesteryear, including...

Percentage Rate
The Percentage Rate all .01 to .99 for all orders using this shipping method.

Percentage A Flat Rate for orders under
A Flat Rate for all orders that are under the amount shown.

Percentage A Flat Rate of
A Flat Rate used for all orders.

Handling Fee
Handling fee for this shipping method.

What am I to do to duplicate the percent.php module functionality that apparently no longer exists?

The percentage shipping module was an addon and not part of your original installation- Check the downloads section.

I realize it was an addon. But I only see it as an older module and therefore must assume it is not compatible with v1.3.7.1

I sure wouldn't want to risk screwing up my database seeing as I've just gone to hades and back getting upgraded to 1.3.7.1 from v1.2

If it requires updating and the original "volunteer" contributor is not currently involved and another has not taken this on then you are out of luck on finding an updated version - but you can try it yourself if you are up to it. Or post what it is and a link to the archives of you can and maybe someone will look at it or not??

here is the kool part,
install it,
if it dosnt work uninstal it in the admin,k

thed kool thing about these modules is that they wont screw up your database,
they install to the configuration table and uninstall them selves

It hasnt been touched cause noone ever said it didnt work

I intended to check it out but just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't damage my database in some way if it didn't work.

I made a copy of my test installation and put it in. It does seem to work so I'm psyched.
