Not really soldout

We will be selling items that we don't actually have in inventory, but that will be on quickship from manufacturers. I'm trying to determine how to reflect the acurate inventory levels and and at the same time, when a product reaches zero, NOT have the cart show "sold out." Help!!

You'll manage that under under Configuration>Stock
The first 3 items will be True
Your inventory will show a negative number for orders placed for items not in inventory if Subtract Stock is set to true
Allow Checkout will allow a customer to purchase not in stock items.

Products Status will be set to 1 This makes the item show up and available to purchase irregardless of stock

Show Sold Out Image will be 0 This turns off the Sold Out image

You might want to tweak the wording a bit for the flag that comes up when adding a non stock item to the cart and during checkout to let the customer know there might be a slight delay and avoid the "where is my package" questions. I have been using the text below and it seems to help

'Products marked with ' . STOCK_MARK_PRODUCT_OUT_OF_STOCK . ' are out of stock.<br />Items not in stock will be ordered and should arrive within 3-4 weeks. If a product is unavailable we will notify you immediately and no charges will be processed.');
