Well, version 1.0 is done. I originally hacked something together that worked for what I needed. I cleaned it up a bit and tweaked it to conform to Zen conventions instead of hard coding everything. There are no file edits required for the basic install. Just a couple of minor edits to control the link from the admin. Be warned that there has not been a lot of testing done on this yet. I have installed it repeatedly on my dev site and it works just fine, but that doesn't mean it will work on yours!

Like any other contribution, BACK UP YOUR DB AND FILES!!! Give it a try and let me know how it works for you. I think I worked out the bugs that would keep it from working, but it always helps to have other eyes take a look at the mess.

Tested on v1.3.5, v1.3.7.1, and v1.3.8a. Seems to work.

Ok, so newbie question but my brain is stuck. How would I call this module into my custom template? I have it all installed and had no errors, but I tried pasting some code in my custom template and it didn't work. I'd like to have this list of manufactuers appear at a specific spot on one page in my site. I know where the code needs to go to make it happen, of course, just brain mush on what I should put in that spot in the custom template.

The way the contribution is written it is intended to display the manufacturers on a separate page like the products all feature.

In order to put the list as part of another page would take some hacking. The header_php.php file has the code that builds the list. You would need to add that code to the header_php.php file for the page you want the list to appear on. Then you would need to take the code out of the tpl_manufacturers_all_default.php file and add that to the template file for the page you want the list to appear on.

I have one question, how would I make the columns even? I know it is CSS but I don't know what to put in there!

For example right now they are all staggered according to the manufacturers name length.

the images are all over the place, how can we make it so ..

there are 3 or 4 images per row
they all lived up per collum (center)
each image is either 100px wide or 100px tall (but not over)
