Default First timer install of zencart, can't find answers that exist for this problem..

OK, I hate asking newbie questions but,,,,,, I have searched this site and can't find my answers

The server I'm using is a windows server. I run the installer and get the following 3 errors that won't let me continue...

    1) PHP session support is required (my host says this is impossible on the wndows server, so how do I bypass it?)

    2) store configure.php is not writeable

    3) admin configure.php is not writeable

I'm hoping that the answer I get isnt to not use this product lol it's the best one i've seen so far. Any help is mch appreciated.

If your host doesn't know how to enable Sessions support in PHP, then ... you don't want them for your hosting company.

Session support is a built-in feature of PHP ... even on Windows. So, if they don't know what they're doing, then RUN to another host who does. You don't want to run your business on a server hosted by someone who hasn't a clue.

Additionally, if you don't need windows-based hosting, don't. You'll have fewer security challenges if you're hosted on Linux with a good hosting company.
If you want recommendations, click on the "hosting" link at the top of this screen.

As for making those configure.php files writable, if your host hasn't given you any tools to make that possible, then they'll have to do it for you. Windows hosts frequently have these kinds of permissions challenges. On Linux hosting, you can use your FTP program to change the permissions. On windows, you can't. Some windows hosts provide a control panel tool to do this. Almost all Linux hosts do.

hmmmm, thats unfortunate. appreciate the input. pretty much confirms what i was afraid of.

unfortunately I do need the windows server because of my programmer who takes care of other things for me.

I will contact them again and see what happens.

So your programmers insist on a Windows server? Pretty weird. Most servers run on Linux since it's far better than Windows (for a server that is)
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

I kind of have the reverse to this problem.

I have my configure.php file in the includes folder set to 644 but i still get errors saying it is writeable and can not get it to go away. My host denies 444 as a file perm as it removes access to the file from me they say.

Anyway Is there a way to disable the error that says configure.php is writeable since i know it is not
