add a box for customer registration

hi folks
i'm trying to add a box for customer registration in order to enable particular customers to add a special code if they come from a specific way so as to benefit to discounts [hope you understood my english]
it would be a box similar to postcode or firstname for example.
i didn't find anything like this in the forum

This is already included with Zen Cart

look in admin -> configuration -> Customer Details -> Customers Referral Status

if you set it to 3 your Customer can add during create account or edit if blank
