Unique Pricing and Qty Situation, I think...
I have a store in which we sell various Types of webbing and fabric by the yard.
Currently we have qty discounts based on the yardage being ordered.
Example:
1-15 yds = $.50
16-30 yds = $.45
31+ = $.40
Pretty straight forward. But we have decided to change the pricing method a bit. We want to be able to sell by full rolls along with the qty break down.
Example:
By the yard (Max 49 yds):
1-24 Yds = $.50
25-49 Yds = $.40
By the Roll (min 100 Yds :
50 Yds = $.35 per Yd ($17.50 Per Roll)
So what would happen is if someone wanted to buy 75 Yards they would purchase a 50 Yard Roll at $17.50 and the 25 Yds of cut webbing at $10 for a total of $27.50.
I can accomplish this fairly easily I think using 2 separate product listings, one for roll good and another for cut yardage. So each type of webbing for example would have 2 product listings. Product setup would take advantage of the "Product Qty" Min, Max and Unit fields in the product setup as well as quantity discounts which we are using with the current pricing structure.
Now my concern becomes with inventory or stock qty management. Since the types of webbing are coming from the same pool of inventory is there a way for me to link both the by yard and by roll stock quantities together so that no matter what is purchased the total available is reduced for both?
Or is there a simpler way of doing this that i am just overlooking?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
