Default Unique Pricing and Qty Situation, I think...

I have a store in which we sell various Types of webbing and fabric by the yard.

Currently we have qty discounts based on the yardage being ordered.

    Example:

    1-15 yds = $.50
    16-30 yds = $.45
    31+ = $.40

Pretty straight forward. But we have decided to change the pricing method a bit. We want to be able to sell by full rolls along with the qty break down.

    Example:

By the yard (Max 49 yds):

    1-24 Yds = $.50
    25-49 Yds = $.40

By the Roll (min 100 Yds :

    50 Yds = $.35 per Yd ($17.50 Per Roll)

So what would happen is if someone wanted to buy 75 Yards they would purchase a 50 Yard Roll at $17.50 and the 25 Yds of cut webbing at $10 for a total of $27.50.

I can accomplish this fairly easily I think using 2 separate product listings, one for roll good and another for cut yardage. So each type of webbing for example would have 2 product listings. Product setup would take advantage of the "Product Qty" Min, Max and Unit fields in the product setup as well as quantity discounts which we are using with the current pricing structure.

Now my concern becomes with inventory or stock qty management. Since the types of webbing are coming from the same pool of inventory is there a way for me to link both the by yard and by roll stock quantities together so that no matter what is purchased the total available is reduced for both?

Or is there a simpler way of doing this that i am just overlooking?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Half way auto rest manual management...

Price this by a singular unit say yard and maintain the inventory in this same unit - Then you have to manually maintain the full roll inventory -

You might gain some advantage with the stock-by-attribute module in the downloads section.

Not sure if I understand totally.

I think you are saying if i have 2000 Yards in stock split the inventory and add some to the "full roll" product and the remainder to the "by yard" product?

I've done it this way in the past with some clearance items but it was a bit labor intensive having to keep checking the totals and adjusting accordingly.

    Not even close -

5 rolls of 100 yds each plus
    7 partials totaling 444yds??

for a total inventory of 944 yards

Sell and price by the yard and for the roll use the factor and offset in the attributes section to bring the total up to a roll volume

I haven't read up on how to use the factor and offset yet i will do that. Hopefully that will solve my problem.

OK I'm looking around and not finding a good primer that fits my situation.

How would i go about setting up factor and offset to do the following.

    1-24 Yds = $.50
    25-49 Yds = $.40

By the Roll (50 Yds) :

    50 Yds = $.35 per Yd ($17.50 Per Roll)

I need a person who orders 70 yards to be charged $.35 per yard for 50 yards and $.50 per yard for 20 yards.

Or some one who orders 90 yards to be charged $.35 per yard for 50 yards and $.40 per yard for 40 yards.

Or better yet someone orders 120 yards they get $.35 per yard for 100 yards (2 Rolls) and pay .50 per yard for the remaining 20 yards.

hopefully my idea is coming across clearly.

I'm going to keep looking but haven't found this yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
