How do I create mysql db on localhost machine?

Hi

I have successfully installed MySQL5, PHP4 and Apache Server (1.3) on my XP Pro machine. I need to know where I setup my SQL database on the local hard drive so that ZenCart installer can see it. Basically, I'm trying to build my own templates locally, I know that I cannot run a store this way.
I have successfully set up one cart on a hosting web server and the database configuration was very straightforward this way, I'm just struggling with the local set up.
Do I place the database in the zencart folder (that I made) under htdocs or does it go elsewhere?

I'm fairly new to all this too, and the way I did it was to go into the MySQL Console.

I don't know how to get into it on your system, but on mine I have WAMP installed, so it's an option on my notification-area-icon-menu.

I then typed in the SQL command:

create database whatever;

and pressed enter.

I then did the Zen Cart install, which populated that database.

(I also use HeidiSQL, which allows me to easily see what goes into my database, and also to run SQL commands there.)

Thanks Carolight, I'll try WAMP. I think I was trying to run before I can walk (again!).
