How to Maintain Aspect Ratio of Landscape & Portrait Images?

I'm creating a website to showcase my photography. I'm going to have some images that are landscape mode (wider than they are tall) and some that are portrait mode (taller than they are wide). I noticed within admin that zen cart only allows you to type in specific pixel heights and widths. Obviously, the portrait images are going to be a totally different dimensions than the landscape images. How can I tell admin to keep the aspect ratio of the pictures rather than display them according to the pixel height and width within configuration>images?

I hope this makes sense because it's kind of hard to explain.

I think if you only specify "height" or "width" - that will achieve what you want - you need to decide whether you want to use "height" or "width" - specify that - and leave the other one blank - the program will keep the aspect ratio correct.
